Today, as I was waiting on line at a store, I noticed the cashier had a British accent. When it was my turn, I faked a British accent in conversation. He asked me where I was from, so I admitted that I was faking. His British accent disappeared as he said, "Me too." MLIA.

:O an i the only one who's british?

[ - ]  randommGood: 29Bad: 12 years, 8 months ago
accents are just awesome. as long as we can understand what's being said. I always think about how french people still have a strong accent when they speak english, so do we have strong accents when we're speaking french? like almost cant-be-understood accents.

Accents Can Cure Every Natural Trauma Since 1899

[ - ]  BoxicIncGood: 30Bad: 12 years, 8 months ago
indeed. British accents are very beastly

[ - ]  virginhuntressGood: 21Bad: 12 years, 8 months ago
I just like all accents, to be honest. Though, to answer the French one... I lost my American accent when I speak French, but only after years of study and speaking with my family. It made my life when I went to France and they all thought I was an ex-pat. :D

[ - ]  HereIsFiveDollarsGood: 3Bad: 02 years ago
What's an ex-pat?

[ - ]  AlperciwulfrianDoreGood: 16Bad: 12 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  MLIbelowAGood: 16Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
I dunno, but if you're british WewItsGeorgia, you misspelled British :-/ I personally just think Brits sound super refined and overall, just cooler. I wish I was British...

[ - ]  giantlemonGood: 1Bad: 01 year, 11 months ago
well ironically i know a guy who wishes he was american. i will say this for you yanks, you can do taxidermy and moonshine. try doing that here (and i have) and everyone looks at you wierd or tells you its illegal.

[ - ]  DabamashGood: 15Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
I'm British (English), and have a vague British(English) accent, but tbh, the traditional English accent is dying out here. It's a shame, 'cos I love it.

[ - ]  thecellokingGood: 3Bad: 01 year, 9 months ago
Well then it is good us Americans are keeping it alive.

[ - ]  laxbabi32Good: 15Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  virginhuntressGood: 20Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
Not cool. AWESOME. I love love love Welsh accents. Seriously. (Torchwood has ruined me, I want more Welsh people around but there are basically NONE where I live in New Jersey, haha).

[ - ]  crazymonkeyGood: 6Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
Me and one other guy I work with do this at our theme-park job. It makes everyone act really nice around you. lol

[ - ]  quixiiGood: 10Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
Hehe! My brother said he used to do that when he worked at Trader Joes. Except one time someone asked him where he was from and he was all, "Umm, here," and the guy was actually British and looked kinda mad. xD Oh well. If I were a cashier I would totally do that. I would spend a portion of my free time trying to learn at least British, Cockney, and Australian (my personal favourites) so I could check people out like that. :D

[ - ]  howdelightfullyaverageGood: 2Bad: 12 years, 8 months ago
i don't understand... how is a cockney accent not a british one?

[ - ]  annefran330Good: 4Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
that is sick. im going to do that

[ - ]  MLIAgirlx3Good: 5Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  xxoshuxxGood: 4Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  Westender2009Good: 4Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
I would do that if I wasn't Scottish.

[ - ]  eveningstarGood: 2Bad: 02 years, 7 months ago

[ - ]  lmart16Good: 5Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  averagely-awesomeGood: 7Bad: 12 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  DabamashGood: 6Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
What is a British accent? Is that a weird mix of English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish?

[ - ]  gods1soldierGood: 1Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  MoonwalkerGood: 1Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
Seriously, I need to remember to do this when I get a job. Except whenever I try to do a British accent, it always comes out Australian...don't ask me how. But I'm always afraid someone's going to be a hardass and act all insulted :(

[ - ]  laxbabi32Good: 1Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
I'm wondering if your talking about my cousin... he does that. comes up with random accents and mess with people.

[ - ]  serbderbGood: 2Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  ambeywhalerGood: 0Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago

so east cost of you..... "on line" (and not refering to the internet) haha, i love syntax....accents are fun too.... And living in Colorado, a state with no accent, it makes it easier to detect and recite even subtle accents, which is fun. yay!

[ - ]  luxz0rzGood: 7Bad: 02 years, 8 months ago
>.< If it was an English person faking an American accent then no one would rate it. Also FAIL at the guy who said "I love British accents and slightly Scottish accents" ..... you do realise that Scotland is in Britain?

[ - ]  cbatomakeupanorignialnameGood: 0Bad: 01 year, 9 months ago

lol. clearly he wasnt british, real brits dont need to ask where you're from, they can tell by your accent!!! (im an army brat, who grew up in Harrogate... My parents who arent even british can still tell where people are from by their accents whenever they run across a Brit here in the states)

[ - ]  maccarroniiGood: 0Bad: 12 years, 5 months ago
I love my hick accent(:

[ - ]  MurphCVRGood: 4Bad: 02 years, 5 months ago
But there's so many different British accents! Scotland has Glaswegian, Aberdeen, upper-class accents. Then there's the Welsh accent. Then England has soooo many. This is way too unspecific for my liking! ...but yeah, I know by British accent, you mean upper-class middle-English accent.

COOLEST CASHIER EVER!=D

[ - ]  readmeandlaughGood: 2Bad: 02 years, 4 months ago
there is no such thing as a British accent, but the one you're probably thinking about is the English Home Counties accent or Queen's English. they're the typical accents most Americans percieve as British. But it makes me all the more prouder that i was born an bred in Oxford myself :D i never knew you guys liked the accent so much! lool

[ - ]  supercapeGood: 3Bad: 32 years, 4 months ago
i bet neither of you sounded britsh. probably just crappy and patronisingly american esque.

hahaha way to make your wait in line more fun! I bet the cashier was happy to have a laugh and a break from all the annoying people he has to deal with in line at his register. Check out this article on how cashier's feel about long lines in grocery stores: http://www.inlinewaiting.com/2010/11/cashier-waiting-in-line-rude-customers/
