Today was the first day of the new school year. As I was taking attendance and reading down the list, I realized that one of my students was named Thomas Marvin Riddle. When the time came to call him, I instead called, "He Who Must Not Be Named?" He said here, and I became the "cool" teacher. MLIA

Cucumber: It's a Harry Potter thing. "Tom Marvolo Riddle" = "I am Lord Voldemort". Lord Voldemort is referred to as "He Who Must Not Be Named".

Well I'm pretty sure they noticed the Marvin/Marvolo difference, but did anyone realize his name isn't Thomas, but just Tom. Which has always kinda amused me.

hey, whattheheckisMLIA, they do give out middle names sometimes, if the parents give them. do you know how many times teachers/professors have called me by my middle name? so yeah, not fake.

although this is really funny, schools do not put middle names on attendance sheets as far as i know
