Today I say this post "Today, I saw a clock called the "The Civilized Butler Awakening Device." Every morning, it says something different in a British accent. The example given was " Good morning madam. I'm so sorry to disturb you, but it appears to be morning. Very inconvenient, I agree. I believe that it is the rotation of the earth that is to blame." I want this clock. MLIA" I own this clock. It scares me every morning. MLIA

One of the reasons why alarm clocks work is because they make an obnoxious noise that disturbs your sleep. Owning that clock would be effective if you find accents annoying.

I think I've seen it too. If it speaks in the voice of Stephen Fry, it is MINE!

Kiyoshi: The clock is only available through Signals.com. And Kamen: It DOES speak in the voice of Stephen Fry. However, I own one of them (technically, my wife does, as I got it for her) and to be honest it's a pretty crap clock. For one, it's a 12-hour clock, so if you set the alarm for, say, 6am, it will also go off at 6pm unless you turn the alarm setting off every morning and on again every night. Also, it won't turn off properly if the battery's running low -- it'll just start rolling from one recorded message to the next. And the so-called "soothing" mode (supposed to be to put you to sleep) is about as creepy as something can possibly be while utilizing Stephen Fry's voice. Finally, with shipping and handling, it's about US$115. Stephen Fry deserves better, IMO.
