Today I realized that indigo isn't part of the rainbow, Pluto isn't a planet, Dora the explorer is now a teen, and the cookie monster likes veggies. How much more can they ruin childhood? MLIA

I broke down into tears at the cookie monster thing.

[ - ]  panicatthediscoGood: 59Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I have great news. I was watching sesame street with my friend the other day and cookie monster was eating cookie again:):) it made my day.

[ - ]  stereotypedGood: 25Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
yeah...i think they tried it for a while, but it didn't work. so he's still cookie monster.

[ - ]  wesaynicoleGood: 31Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
alright call me crazy, but I saw a cookie monster sticker recently and he looked a loooot fatter than the cookie monster i grew up with. please tell me this isn't the result of health freaks trying to teach kids a lesson. cause I grew up just fine. i think.. :)

EDIT: woops, supposed to go a comment below this.. :(

I know eh , like veggies really . &indigo is in the rainbow ... ROY-G-BIV .

[ - ]  saxgirl13Good: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
That is a tragesty to the whole entire world! I suppose that tomorrow my 5 year old little sister will come home from kindergarden telling me that the sky is green.

[ - ]  saxgirl13Good: 32Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I don't see how the person who posted the MLIA ran over this... but I'd say that the worst kid show replacement has to be Winnie the Pooh. They used to have 'The many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh'. But they've now replaced it with 'My friends Tigger and Pooh' which is about them solving mysteries. The worst part about the new show is that Christopher Robin was replaced by a stupid girl named Darby and her dog Buster. Oh the SHAME! :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Blue is a boy?? I knew about Tweety from his voice but Blue??

[ - ]  tumbaGood: 56Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
... and Blue from Blue's Clues is a girl.

[ - ]  panicatthediscoGood: 30Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
WHAT?!?!?! but doesn't Blue have like a thing for Magenta?

[ - ]  AntiNinjaMovementGood: 52Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Tweetie Bird is a boy. I still can't wrap my mind around that one.

[ - ]  empiresGood: 63Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Except Tweetie Bird & Blue have always been those genders.

[ - ]  Lindsayface47Good: 20Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I already knew about Blue, but TWEETIE?! NOOOOOO!

[ - ]  SporksPWNGood: 10Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
...what panicatthedisco said.

[ - ]  neeeeeeeecoleGood: 12Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
And apparently, there's a little brother in the picture now?

[ - ]  BoydianGood: 27Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I always knew Tweetie was a boy. That's what I always thought.

[ - ]  SuicidalRadishGood: 41Bad: 18 years, 8 months ago
They destroyed Blues clues! my favourite show, destroyed! Why? WHY? *cries* Blue is boy that doesn't talk! I knew it was all ending when Steve left! *Sobs*

[ - ]  allbymeonesyGood: 22Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I knew about Blue and Tweety... O_o However...I was devastated when I first learned the red power ranger was a boy. xD EDIT: BLG! I KNOW! They make Joe seem so stupid. I mean, Steve was just blind, but Joe..? Joe is just lame. :/

[ - ]  xaliceGood: 30Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I think Magenta's the boy o.O unless like .... they had a homo relationship going on secretly ... I STiLL think they make a cute couple though.

[ - ]  BandGeekLoveGood: 49Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I miss Steve from Blue's Clues. I don't like Joe :(

[ - ]  boombaGood: 0Bad: 408 years, 8 months ago
I know joe sucks too bad steve killed himself

[ - ]  SuicidalRadishGood: 31Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I want to cry now. :( When steve left for "college" and his "brother" "Joe" came, i knew it was all downhill...

[ - ]  girlfromspaceGood: 18Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Magenta and Blue are both girls and are only friends. lets all remember little kids cant handle romance

[ - ]  stereotypedGood: 10Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Blue has always been a girl. I knew that even in my childhood, but I guess I'm the only one. It was kind of confusing though, but I guess Magenta is a boy...? and I agree, Joe sucks. I like Steve.

[ - ]  DwRadiceGood: 14Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
as it has been said, Blue has always been a girl along with Magenta. They are just friends with no intimate relationship.. and Steve did not die, he left voluntarily to pursue a music career

[ - ]  dlofashoGood: 43Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
i dont think steve went to college. Im pretty sure that joe killed steve so he can take over the blues clues empire.

[ - ]  dance4evrsGood: 9Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
i REMEMBER that my dad was steve for halloween when I was little and my dog was Blue and there was pale and shovel and salt and pepper... ahh the good old days...

[ - ]  mm329Good: 16Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
MAGENTA IS A BOY. MY MIND EXPLODED WHEN I FOUND THAT OUT.

[ - ]  falloutgurl517Good: 30Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I'm positive Blue is a girl, but I believe Magenta is a boy. And I belive they did this to make the statement that colors dont have to be genderized

[ - ]  HeyMissAverageGood: 0Bad: 208 years, 8 months ago
don't forget!!!! Magenta is a guy :P

[ - ]  doglovermhGood: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Magenta is a boy? but I was magenta for halloween last year xD HOW COULD YOU, BLUE CLUES?~!?! that used to be my favorite show. I hate joe.

[ - ]  JayxElfGood: 11Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Magenta is in fact a boy. And Steve totally did not go to college, he was arrested. :[ THAT blew my mind.

[ - ]  ohitisloveGood: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
panicatthedisco: Yeah, but Magnenta is the boy.

[ - ]  AnatimeladyGood: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Magenta is a boy, and Blue is a girl.

[ - ]  kuracaraGood: 11Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Yeah blue has ALWAYS been a girl, though i was surprised when i first heard as well And Steve was arrested, i think for drugs, so he had to be written off the show. Ironically, they used to excuse "He's going to college!" We now know how the people over at Blue's Clues spent THEIR college years

[ - ]  KandiceMRGood: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
steve was not killed or arrested. he started a band and it's actually amazing. http://www.myspace.com/steveburnsofficialmyspace also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Burns pretty much explains it.

[ - ]  DependingOnMyMoodGood: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
yeah, blue is a girl and magenta is a boy. they wanted to take away from 'blue is a boy color and pink [well, more spacifically magenta] is a girl color'

[ - ]  ihateapeuroGood: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
honest to god....this whole convo was hilarious.... LOLLLL

[ - ]  BandGeekLoveGood: 85Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
And one of the Tellie Tubbies is gay. I'm not kidding. EDIT: okay, so the Tellie Tubbies show got sued because apparently, Tinky Winky is supposed to be a guy but he carries a purse. And our ruined childhood can be explained in two words: Hannah Montana.

[ - ]  fishegalGood: 22Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Po doesnt carry a purse. Tinky Winky carries it. Po has a scooter.

[ - ]  BandGeekLoveGood: 10Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Thanks, I'll change it. I was misinformed. How do you even know that? haha

[ - ]  AntiNinjaMovementGood: 21Bad: 28 years, 8 months ago
*bursts into song* Tinky-Winkyyyy, Dipsyyyy, Lalaaaa, PO! I am not even kidding when I say that the Teletubbies are my idols in life. That is seriously my favorite show ever.

[ - ]  BoydianGood: 43Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I think its all stupid. So what if a guy carries a purse.

[ - ]  BandGeekLoveGood: 15Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I didn't say it bothered me. In fact I don't care if guys carry purses. But some tight ass parents can't handle imaginary figures who are supposedly guys carrying purses in little kid shows. I just hate how they got sued :(

[ - ]  WhackJobNinjaGood: 78Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
It's a MAN purse

[ - ]  fishegalGood: 8Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I know it cause I used to watch the show all the time. I remember random information about my childhood shows. i still love them all. haha

[ - ]  HydraGood: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Someone made a mod for Left4Dead that turns all the infected into Teletubbies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-db9qgn99o It's awesome.

[ - ]  xaliceGood: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I was once LaLa for Halloween ... & now I have the sudden urge to put the costume back on o.O

[ - ]  moshgirlingreenGood: 36Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I always felt bad for Po because her name was at the end of the song and it is only one syllable. just saying.

[ - ]  mm329Good: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
i eat, breath, and sleep tellie tubbies. that was like my childhood form of heroine

[ - ]  UtterlyAbsurdGood: 7Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Back when the Tellitubbies were really popular, everyone was up-in-arms because of Tinky Winky's upside-down purple triangle. But, really, when you're three, who cares?!?

[ - ]  PeppersprayyGood: 21Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
It's a satchel. Indiana Jones has one.

[ - ]  OctoPieGood: 6Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
It's a Murse! Jeeze Louise. First this, then that Spongebob being a rampant homosexual out to eat the souls of young children crap.

[ - ]  kirklazarusGood: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
@Pepperspray: I was totally gonna say that, haha, Alan Garner (from Hangover) FTW!

[ - ]  alicewhitlockGood: 6Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Po was always my favourite. For my third birthday, I got a Po suit, and wore it ALL the time. I felt sorry for her because she was the littlest and I thought that she didn't get videos played on her tummy as much as the other teletubbies. Plus, she had a scooter

[ - ]  ancientonceGood: 5Bad: 18 years, 8 months ago
Spongebob is definitely out to eat the souls of young children. It's just not because he's gay. Also, Po is awesome. Thank you. That is all.

[ - ]  saxgirl13Good: 1Bad: 38 years, 8 months ago
Po ROX!

[ - ]  inyourface14Good: 1Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
i had no idea that po was a girl! i used to love tellie tubbies my favorites were actually: tellie tubbire, ed ed and eddy and the power puff girls LOL oh an hey arnold haha

[ - ]  MelodydramaGood: 12Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
They take away the cheesy concerned children's advertisers commercials : .. i don't know if they had these in the united states but being a canadian the house hippo commercial was a main theme of my childhood, i spent an hour this past weekend youtubing old CCA commercials

[ - ]  RaeGhostGood: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I loved those commercials. I saw the hippo one a few days ago. I havnt seen the talking TV one in awhile though.

[ - ]  MelodydramaGood: 1Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
:0 i saw that one this weekend! it's crazy how much of an impact they must have made on me, i remember every word

[ - ]  KaylaRaineGood: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
The "don't put it in your mouth" one was on TV the other day. It use to scare me.

[ - ]  TolietpaperGood: 15Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
HOLY SHIET. ....Vegetables? Are you serious? I-I never knew this...

[ - ]  BoydianGood: 15Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
It's because in New Zealand they were worried about child obesity. They though the Cookie MOnster might be contributing to that so they had him eat vegetables to teach the kids.

[ - ]  apurplepenguinGood: 47Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Cookies are not a sometimes food! They are an ALL THE TIME food! To prove my point, I think I'll have one now.

[ - ]  ActionManGood: 10Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
It was New Zealand's fault? On behalf of my country I would like to sincerely apologise. I was so disappointed when I heard about Cookie Monster.

[ - ]  vinlewGood: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I dont think it was NZs fault, it was something overseas

[ - ]  trufflecakeGood: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago

how is indigo not a part of the rainbow???

[ - ]  MelodydramaGood: 12Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
they don't teach roygbiv anymore :(

NO MORE ROYGBIV???

[ - ]  AntiNinjaMovementGood: 7Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  emmajenGood: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
that is retarded o_O how can they exclude indigo?!

[ - ]  theyellowkatGood: 7Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
indigo was always my favorite...... :'(

[ - ]  c31996Good: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Wait a second, they were teaching me ROYGBIV just two years ago! How can it change so quickly?

[ - ]  xhristenGood: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
in honors chemistry we are still learning ROYGBIV but we pay more attention to violet than indigo.

[ - ]  c31996Good: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Indigo deserves its place in the rainbow. Not allowing it to be there is like not allowing rain to fall. It has to be a color. It must be. It still is in my mind.

[ - ]  DiranGood: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
i'm so upset by this! when did this happen? and why?

[ - ]  ditzydoryGood: 0Bad: 18 years, 7 months ago
I never learned it as part of the rainbow... I'm 21.. I don't if that means anything.. was it before or after I was in kindergarten? besides, it makes sense to me.. Indigo is half blue half purple/violet right? but none of the other colors are tertiary colors, so why is that one included and not turquoise or red-orange or magenta? makes sense to me.. leave the main colors as the primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) and the secondary colors (the in-between ones, what you get when you mix the primaries: orange, green, and purple)

[ - ]  stereotypedGood: 13Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
they changed it :( so now it's roy g. bv! what the crap is bv? bv isn't a word!

[ - ]  SporksPWNGood: 10Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Biv isn't a word either.

[ - ]  TheLostDiademGood: 24Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Well it sure as hell is better than 'bv'.

[ - ]  trufflecakeGood: 9Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Dude, they can't just go changing the rainbow. It's there. In the sky. Have those people ever seen the rainbow? It has indigo in it! Between blue and violet, it's like the crossover of blue and violet. Just like orange is the crossover between red and yellow. Uh oh. I'm going to a halloween party as a rainbow. Just realised I have no indigo. I contradict myself. Sorry. But I maintain that indigo is a part of the rainbow.

[ - ]  panicatthediscoGood: 27Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
wikipedia isn't trustworthy you can edit it. I once looked up some type of gray owl for science and it claimed it's feathers are "sparkly pink" lol :)

[ - ]  Suz54Good: 29Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
wikipedia is the best resource there is panicatthedisco. lol, i know you can edit it, but i'm serious, ALL of my graduate student teaching assistants use it and say its a valid resource most of the time. there are few topics that are disputed or involved in "edit wars" because of people's varying religious or political idealogies, and those sometimes are invalid, but even then they'll often block those off to editing. sometimes there will be joke things on there like the pink sparkle thing, but its usually a joke and the admin havent gotten to fixing it yet (but its usually within the hour). when you use it as a source you're supposed to check the edit history and you can revert back to old versions and check what they said. dont you talk about my wiki like that, he's amazing :D

one word: elmo. sesame street has seriously deteriorated in the last 25 years.

[ - ]  jbobsully11Good: 1Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
@Nessieblack09: He's entirely too cheerful now (a lot more than he used to be), and has sort of become the star of the show. If they've done anything else to him besides that, I don't know and really don't want to.

[ - ]  supersprodeGood: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
What??? Since when is indigo excluded from the rainbow??

[ - ]  ACDCBigBallsGood: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
What? ROY G. BIV. Indigo is part of the rainbow, at least I thought it was.

[ - ]  thePhatLadyGood: 21Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Amen to that!! I can't even handle how everything is being destroyed. Don't get me started on most of the Disney sequels! Everything is just...dying and they can't think of anything original anymore!

[ - ]  MelodydramaGood: 28Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
modern disney is a tragedy

[ - ]  panicatthediscoGood: 11Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I hate Disney now i mean look at the shows the expect children to watch.....Handy Manny, The Wiggles, the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, that weird new Pooh bear show.....:(:(:(:(:(........theyre ruining all the good old shows:(

[ - ]  stereotypedGood: 15Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
disney is crap now. i was watching "tru confessions" (one of the older movies) the other day. i'd never seen it before, but that movie had me sobbing, and now there are movies like "HSM" and "Hannah Montana: The Movie" and "Dadnapped" and pretty much just stupid movies. ugh!

[ - ]  UtterlyAbsurdGood: 15Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
The new Pooh show! My Friends Tigger and Pooh? Aaah! It made me so upset that the little girl has a pet dog! A PET DOG! The original Hundred Acre Woods friends do not mix with pet dogs... and the 3D-ness? The original was better. Childhood was better then.

[ - ]  SporksPWNGood: 8Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
We know THAT, they're not teaching it that way though.

[ - ]  which1spink9Good: 7Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
It USED to be. Apparently they kicked indigo out- they don't teach Roy G. Biv anymore. :(

[ - ]  BearLakeBeastGood: 9Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Pluto is a dwarf planet, more specifically a plutoid. And I cite NASA http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/profile.cfm?Object=Dwarf&Display=OverviewLong

[ - ]  amethystGood: 11Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Just because things were once taught doesn't mean they are still taught, "smartie." Also, "smartie", before attempting to be condescending, make sure you don't look like an idiot, and use a spell-checker. While I am not normally a spelling Nazi, I hate when people try to be snotty and smarter-than-thou, but don't bother to check themselves. However, brownie points for the screen name.

WHAAAT!!! NO! They can't do that!!! this is the first I'm here of this. RECYCLING! give me a break! i think a part of my soul just died.

[ - ]  xaliceGood: 53Bad: 18 years, 8 months ago
I truthfully feel sorry for the children growing up now. They get Hannah Montana, Ben 1O, and iPods with who knows what applications. We got Pokémon, where's Waldo ?!, and Bill Nye. We had it made back then.

[ - ]  neeeeeeeecoleGood: 20Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Hell yes we did.

[ - ]  SeastoneGood: 33Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Bill Nye and Mr. Rogers. Where do they get role models like that?

[ - ]  c31996Good: 14Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I cried when I heard about Mr. Rogers. I remember the trolley going through his home and smiling and thinking that it was like a New Orleans streetcar.

[ - ]  Nessieblack09Good: 18Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Ah Pokemon.... It's been ruined now. Misty's gone, Team Rocket has gone all soft, the theme song and Rocket's motto are retarded... My brother watches it, and now he's playing my old pokemon game. He doesn't know who half of them are. It's so depressing.

[ - ]  DwightSchruteGood: 7Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I met Bill Nye last week and got a picture with him. Oh boy..he has changed. Changed for the worse D:

almost the same thing as this was posted before. but indigo is definitely still in the rainbow, no matter what the man says.

[ - ]  scottyz548Good: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
oh yea and they have decided that oscar the grouch is going to go green soon and start teaching kids to recycle

[ - ]  rebelmonkey09Good: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
is he also going to move to a recycle bin?

[ - ]  angie8204Good: 1Bad: 38 years, 8 months ago
since WHEN is indigo not a color?!?!?!?! wtf?

[ - ]  dancin303Good: 3Bad: 28 years, 8 months ago
in chemisty class they still teach ROYGBIV as part of visible light on the electromagnetic ray thingy. so therefore indigo is still very much part of the rainbow

[ - ]  apilotslife4meGood: 9Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
In Physics they now teach that the color Indigo only comes from the burning of a certain gas. It cannot be separated out of natural light. Instead it is viewed as a cross between blue and violet.

[ - ]  inluvwithmliaGood: 18Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
we bearly ever used computers and now these 7 year olds have their own iphones

[ - ]  SporksPWNGood: 48Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Exactly!! There's actually a day every year where Nick cancels all the TV shows to get kids to play outside. D:

[ - ]  Nessieblack09Good: 8Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Yeah... my 7 year old brother has an iTouch... really a bad idea, DON'T give one to your kids.

I used to go to my friend's house JUST to use her cable network to play Neopets because we had dial-up.

So basically the world is being destroyed by crappy new/revised kids shows and everything with a point/not garbage is being demolished. Yaay.

Eeyore's dead, he was replaced by a sexy optimistic female otter named Lodi! EDIT: Here's the Proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re_Lozxuw74 I know SNL makes news stories funny, but they are still true!

not to mention bob the tomato and larry the cucumber, the hosts of "Veggie Tales" are actually classified as fruits....

[ - ]  teacuppyGood: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I effing love Veggie Tales. When I went to Sunday School for teen, we sang along to Veggie Tales instead of actually studying the Bible.

[ - ]  inluvwithmliaGood: 10Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
*shudders at thought* the show is called VEGGIE tales for goodness sakes

[ - ]  SailorKellyGood: 28Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Hannah Montana is ruining these's kids childhoods. :( Instead of Pokemon, which is all about friendship, Powerpuff Girls, which is good always wins agains evil, it's about chasing after guys. Has anyone noticed more little kids are cussing these days? I had a whole discussion about this in my Spanish class. Even yesterday my 12yr old sister started yelling and screaming at my mom for not letting her dye her hair.

[ - ]  inluvwithmliaGood: 13Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
im 13 and dont act like that :))

[ - ]  SporksPWNGood: 16Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I know!! That's pretty much how I learned the f-word...it being screame back and forth in the 5th grade hallway o_e There are 3 or four kids in 7th grade that I know who've dyes their hair. 2005+ = Ruined childhood for kids and crap.

[ - ]  mm329Good: 12Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
i can proudly say that i have pokemon tattoos, a power puff girls folder, dragon ball z trading cards, and 20+ disney classics on VCR in my room. they are all used regularly i am also only 13, i feel as though i was a hip toddler, ahead of my time.

[ - ]  cucumberfabulousGood: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
OMG I know! When I was little the worse word I ever said was 'butt head'! because I knew If I said anything else I would get the belt!!!! Parents need to discipline! They don't do it anymore, so their children run wild..

[ - ]  silentscreamGood: 1Bad: 08 years, 6 months ago
I agree, cucumberfabulous. My dad was definitely the person who disciplines in my house. He's a lawyer, and I heard him when a parent asked him what she should do about finding weed in her son's room, and if she should call the police. The first thing out of his mouth was "Make him watch you flush it down the toilet, take away his phone, car keys, music crap, tv, computer and all that stuff, and keep him in the house for the entire weekend in a room that has only a light bulb and a mattress on the floor. THAT'S discipline. You shouldn't let people get away with swearing or being disrespectful. I don't care about how sensitive people are about it; I will spank and ground my kid like that if I ever have one.

[ - ]  moshgirlingreenGood: 16Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I watched an episode of Arthur the other day, and all the kids were walking around with cell phones. CELL PHONES!!

[ - ]  MelodydramaGood: 16Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
:O even arthur!!! say it ain't so! *gasp* as long as they leave the magic school bus alone, i might be able to go on!

[ - ]  x13-whoanessGood: 9Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Dude, I'm pretty sure cell phones didn't exist in my childhood-world when I first started watching Arthur. D: And aren't the kids like, nine in the show? DD: Or maybe they were in third grade... @Melody I enjoyed the Blink-182 reference.

[ - ]  MelodydramaGood: 6Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
the sad part is that I made no reference... or at least I didn't mean too

[ - ]  x13-whoanessGood: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Aaah, say it ain't so, I will not go... :0 no intention? D: are you suuuuure?

[ - ]  MelodydramaGood: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Entirely sure. Despite the large number of songs in my itunes library I do not have a single blink 182 song

[ - ]  c31996Good: 14Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Turn the lights out, Carry me home! I'm thirteen and grew up watching Arthur. I remember the episode when D.W. wants a library card. I love that show. It beats Hannah Montana any day.

Plus Dumbledore and Snape dying.

[ - ]  k649Good: 6Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Blue was always a girl. Watch the show. And no teletubbies were gay, they are TELLETUBBIES. It is a children's show, so the focus is not on hooking them up. They pretty much have no sexualities.

[ - ]  sweetyuklaGood: 0Bad: 178 years, 8 months ago

Actually, I'm fairly positive Bert and Ernie are just roommates. But anyway, you're looking for Nicky and Rod. :D (Or Rod and Ricky, if you're a stickler for canon and not how-it's-supposed-to-be-in-fan-world.)

Okay, I'm only 14, but I would rather watch the original Bill Nye any day then the new kids shows. MAX AND EMMY FROM DRAGON TALES HAVE A NEW NEIGHBOR!!! I forgot his name, but I thought it was unjust. And yeah,

[ - ]  yangatnagGood: 6Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I am disappointed in TV

[ - ]  c31996Good: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Dragon Tales was my favorite show. I watched it every day. I wished that I could replace Emmy on the show.

[ - ]  averagesamanthaGood: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Ok, this may sound really weird, but when I was little, I would take a bar of soap, and repeat the chant that took them to Dragon Land. "I wish, I wish, with all my heart, to fly with dragons, in a land apart."

[ - ]  sweetfaerieGood: 15Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
It is sad. I miss the good 90's shows. Hey Arnold, the original All That, Tiny Toons, the Anamaniacs, As Told by Ginger. Its just sad what the kids have to watch now-a-days. Childrens televiion has gone so far down hill. I think they need to bring back Gula Gula island and leave all the good shows alone.

[ - ]  wesaynicoleGood: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
All those those you said were amazing :] I still find All That the funniest thing ever.

[ - ]  sweetfaerieGood: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
they were good in the begining, but once the cast changed it just wasnt funny anymore. I just love the Ask Ashley segment. "Dear Ashley....Tha's MEE" oh the good old days..

[ - ]  wesaynicoleGood: 1Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago

[ - ]  xxcalynxxGood: 13Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
They have hundreds of TV channels now. I think they should devote one to classic TV shows. Anyone else miss that show Catdog? :(

[ - ]  sweetfaerieGood: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I LOVED Catdog. If there was a classic cartoon channel it would be all I would watch lol

[ - ]  lardofaveragenessGood: 0Bad: 18 years, 8 months ago
Boomerang''s the best we've got.

[ - ]  xxcalynxxGood: 6Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
But boomerang shows the classic toddler shows. it doesn't show the TV shows we grew up watching when we were all 6,7,8, 9 years old. I mean really. Let's write a letter to Nick and Cartoon network demanding our classic shows. They replaced Powerpuff girls, Pokemon, and Dragon Ball Z. With stuff like Chowder and 6 teen. What has my favorite network come to? :(

[ - ]  wesaynicoleGood: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I remember spending all day on weekends watching catdog marathons when I was little :)

[ - ]  lardofaveragenessGood: 7Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I wish they brought back Pokemon original. When Misty left, the show became horrible.

[ - ]  xxcalynxxGood: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I disagree, I didn't think it became horrible until Dawn came.

[ - ]  lardofaveragenessGood: 3Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
NAh, May and Max killed it.

[ - ]  lardofaveragenessGood: 1Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
When I was little, I spent hours watching old tapes of Pokemon, Digimon, etc.

[ - ]  xxcalynxxGood: 7Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I have the first season on video, but I still don't think May was that bad. I accept a little bit of change, but when they changed the Ash's voice after the second season of having May, I almost cried.

[ - ]  lardofaveragenessGood: 0Bad: 18 years, 8 months ago
They said they were "introducing characters to represent the new generation." then leave misty and just add may, god damn it!

:( How can you decide a colour no longer exists, seriously? The new Winnie the Pooh makes me sad too. It's all animated and deformed and weird. But whats even sadder is the demise of Baa Baa Black Sheep :( Apparently it's too racist to be allowed anymore.

[ - ]  x13-whoanessGood: 11Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Wh-what? Baa Baa Blacksheep has nothing to do with race. There are such things as /black/ sheep, its where you get cheap black wool so you don't have to pay to dye it. >>

it makes me SO sad that they changed the cookie monster. ugh. stupid obese children ruining everything. well, really their irresponsible parents >_>

[ - ]  silentscreamGood: 0Bad: 08 years, 6 months ago
Blame it on the parents! If and when I have kids, I am feeding them FRUITS and VEGETABLES. candy is not going to be banned, but I'm going to make it so that none gets in my house at any time other than halloween. I don't know about cookies though.....I love 'em :)

[ - ]  DwRadiceGood: 5Bad: 248 years, 8 months ago
The thread makes my head hurt with all the complaining about insignificant changes. -The cookie monster started eating healthier because the US as a whole is becoming more obese every generation. -Blue was always a girl. Did you even watch the show? If you did you would know that by now. -Pluto is now a dwarf-planet - TV Dora is not a teen, but has launched a teenage doll that syncs with the computer..(they need some preteen item to compete with disney) -Indigo may not be taught as part of the rainbow in primary school but it is still a color on the light spectrum. -Eeyore is not dead. (However, Little Robin has grown up and left the hundred acre woods.. /tear) tl;dr get over it

WHAT?! Woah. Woah. Everyone needs to back-up, rewind, and take a deep breath. -Christopher Robin grew up?! Is that possible? -No more ROY G BIV? How will kids learn the colors of the rainbow? -I will admit at being so mad when Pluto lost planet status. 90s were amazing. We all know it and I feel bad for the children today.

[ - ]  bananapeels151Good: 6Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
your name is aewsome 1. Cookie monster does still eat cookies 2. Most of the adults i know, still believe that Indigo is a color and so do I SO LET INDIGO LIvE! 3. Um ..pfft we all know Pluto is a planet! 4. Eoyere- SADDD NOOO I LOVED HIM 5. I feel bad for today's children too Especially cause they have miley cyrus. *weeps for today's generation*

Oh yeah, and apparently the colour magenta is just a figment of our imagination! Like WTF??

[ - ]  bananapeels151Good: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
- next thing they'll say is that Blue is a figment of our mind too as an artist I REVOLT

[ - ]  Revan343Good: 1Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Actually, the magenta one has cred. Look at a rainbow. There is no magenta. It's just what happens when our brains *attempt* to combine red and violet. But as for indigo? Pft. Look at that rainbow again. What do you see between blue and violet? Indigo? Yeah, me too. But apparently, the scientists are all going colour-blind. (-_-)

[ - ]  modnar379Good: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I think I always knew that Tweetie bird was a boy, but I never knew about Blue. I'm in middle school right now so I'm basically growing up while all this stuff is changing. I miss all of the old Nick cartoons I used to watch. Along with good Disney.

[ - ]  WaldosDeadThatsWhyYouCantFindHimGood: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I don't get why a blue dog would be a girl, but a pink one a boy? Not to be sexist or anything, but still.

[ - ]  colormecallieGood: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Wait INDIGO ISN'T PART OF THE RAINBOW??? Aw dang I need to update my rainbow picture I turned in yesterday in science.

[ - ]  bananapeels151Good: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
No don't Indigo is a color Who cares what the scientist say??? I mean seriously the rainbow with six colors? NOT RIGHT

[ - ]  ginnyweasley16Good: 7Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
what has this world come to??? these new tv shows are corrupting kids. remember the original barney? and boy meets world!!!! that was the best show EVER

[ - ]  PirateNecromancerGood: 6Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Boy Meets World was, is, and always will be the greatest family sitcom.

[ - ]  theyellowkatGood: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Ok, I get that they're trying to be all worldly, or whatever, but the new Frog Princess movie is annoying me. Whatever happened to great, foreign lands with cool princesses? The new movie is set in Louisiana! Gosh! (If I'm wrong about this, please tell me. I don't pretend to know much about the subject.)

[ - ]  mm329Good: 5Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
im still wondering my louisiana would have a princess in the first place.

[ - ]  bananapeels151Good: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
*shakes heaD* I do not know no wonder my mom's city school kids think the city is a country. and a state and a city.

[ - ]  ginnyweasley16Good: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
yea last time i checked louisiana was part of the US and unless thers somethin we dont kno about, we hAve a president not a princess lol

[ - ]  DwRadiceGood: 7Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I think the reason its set in New Orleans is because they wanted to have their first black princess but didnt want to deal with the people that would have complained if it was set in Africa.

[ - ]  FIRSTGeek4lifeGood: 1Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
If I recall correctly She's not a princess...she's a waitress and aspiring Chef....

[ - ]  colormecallieGood: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Magenta is so a girl! I mean come on! I know this is kind of sexist but really? if they were tight enough to sue Teletubbies, then don't you think a pink dog would be a girl. And think about the name. How many guys you know named Magenta?

I am also disappointed in what they did to Tinkerbell. She's nice now? And wears pants? And what's with this new guy she's hanging with? What happened to Peter?!

[ - ]  elfishhGood: 4Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
According to an article I read last week, the pants are because the new movie is Autumn or something and they thought her clothes should be a bit warmer. That I can understand, but the personality change? Tink is NOT supposed to be nice. The new guy is Terrence, I think. He's a minor character from a Disney-authorized series of books who has a crush on Tink. The whole Peter thing is explained in the books, but I can't remember the details.

No way! I'm 14, nearly 15. I remember most of these. No more ROY G. BIV?! I wasn't allowed to watch Teletubbies or Arthur, although I certainly remember the shows. I grew up on the original Barney, Blues Clues (I learned the planets from there!), Pluto as a planet, The original Winnie the Pooh, watching Bill Nye the Science Guy with my parents, the original Sesame Street, Mister Rogers, Magic School Bus, and the original Scooby-Doo. I also grew up with Tom and Jerry, Flinstones, the Jetsons, Roadrunner and Wiley Coyote, Tweetie Bird and Sylvester the Cat! I remember Mother Goose, the Muppets, Oscar the Grouch in a garbage can, Count, and Elmo - long before he had his own mini-show. Now half of these are gone?! How can there be shows I grew up on that are already referred to as "oldies?" I call for the original Scooby-Doo gang, with their original van, before Velma carried a laptop. And I think we need I Love Lucy re-runs!

My childhood is being ruined! I'm still in middle school, but I can't even turn on the TV to actually watch anymore, I just turn it on so I have sound in my room so there are no awkward silences. But Christopher Robin can't grow up, Oscar can't recycle, the Cookie Monster can't eat veggies, the Powerpuff Girls can't be cancelled, Toy Story can't be coming out in 3D, and Tinkerbell can't be nice now, and a lot more. I feel bad for all the little kids who are growing up in 2005+.

[ - ]  bananapeels151Good: 8Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I'm now convinced the 90's kids had teh best childhood we had 1. Awesome Cartoons from Blue's Clues (and no Spongebob cannot compare to these cartoons) to like Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Wild Thornberry's etc 2. Our rainbow had seven colors like its supposed tooo 3. Pluto was actually a planet and you could say My Very Elegant Mother Just Served Nine Pizzas 4. Eoyere was awesome - he may have been dopey and sad, but he was awesome. And frankly taught me affection...idk about you guys 5. Our Role Models were actual Kids Not Kids pretending to be older than they were or pretending to be someone else *cough miley and Hannah Montana* 6. And Parents wonder why today's generation is like the way they are. *sigh*

If i see the color indigo, which i do, then indigo IS a color. Dora is a teen *sigh* pretty stupid* Hannah Montanna is stupid and CatDog and Rugrats practically owned my life. I remember being so excited for the first pokemon movie to come out, and my brother and I watched the Digimon movie over and over...my mom said that we weren't allowed to watch DBZ until we were 7 so we used to watch it in secret. :) are Teen Titans and Yu-Gi-Oh pushing it? Being born in 1994, I just managed to catch the end of the 90's, as well as seeing the beginning of the 21st century as a kid. (I pity my brother, 1998. He never watched Cyber Six) I grew up in a world where Richard Of York gave Battle In Vain, where there were nine planets, where Dora was a kid who needed help with everything, and where the Cookie Monster ran near and far, all the while eating a cookie. I grew up in a world where there were 151 Pokemon, where you lengthened your rip-cord and took a running start, and where you wore a crest around your neck, or had a blue card in your pocket (somehow missed World 2, and I'm glad for it.) A troll was a doll, or a mythical creature, and you wanted a House Hippo for Christmas. I grew up in a world where you still called it Christmas, you read the Old and New Testaments, and everything happened Before Christ or After Death. I grew up in a world where Eeyore spent hours building a stick tent, where the wonderful thing about tiggers was tiggers were wonderful things, and where the greatest achievement was when Goku learned Spirit Bomb. I grew up in a world where Anime was good, there were castles in the sky, Heliopolis was a space colony, and it didn't matter what GUNDAM meant, even though you knew it was the General Unilateral Neuro-link Dispersive Autonomous Maneuver Synthesis System. I grew up in a world where each card had a power it's own, and where Sonic had a brother and sister. I grew up in a world where if you wanted to race then you played Mario Kart, and if you wanted to shoot people, you played Goldeneye. And now...no indigo, eight planets, teenage Dora, and a veggie monster. 493, you don't play with tops, Bakugan instead of Digimon, there are rules about Trolls, and the House Hippo has just *finally* returned. It's the "Holiday Season", the Hebrew Testament and Catholic Scriptures (a futile attempt at political correctness, we still argue), and it's Before Common Era, and Common Era. No more Eeyore, tigger's dead, and Goku's a kid. Again. Naruto sucks, Heliopolis is from Stargate, and there are too many acronyms for GUNDAM to remember. Nobody even remembers the CardCaptors theme, Sonic's best friend is a jerk, and they fight Dr. Ivo Eggman Robotnic. Now you race in Grand Torismo, and brutally murder people in GTA. *shakes head in disgust* Did I mention that's not an Aluminum can you're drinking from? It's Aluminium, and it's been that way since 1925. Huh. Odd.

Not only does the Cookie Monster "promote childhood obesity," but Oscar The Grouch is "too grouchy". Sheesh, society is too BLAH.

[ - ]  georgesmomGood: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
the other day my sister and I were singing the "banging on a trash can" song from doug and he just looked at us like we were crazy. I felt sincerely sorry for his inability to remember the good old days of Doug. My sister is 23, I am 20, and my little brother is 16. I truly miss the old days. Doug. Rocko's Modern Life. Camp Anawhonna (I probably spelled that one wrong). Rugrats. Legends of the Hidden Temple. Guts. Are You Afraid of the Dark. Goosebumps. Nick Jr and Face. My heart hurts for the new generation and the stupid shows they have to watch.

Bear in the Big Blue House, anyone? Also Nancy Drew books. I grew up reading the original series, and now there are like, three other series? What the heck?

[ - ]  NancydrewfanGood: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I watched Bear in the Big Blue House occasionally, that was a good show. :) And obviously, from my username, I remember Nancy Drew. I've read every single original twice, at least. I own 48/56 originals. There are also Nancy Drew files, hundreds of extensions on the original Nancy Drew books, as well as a completely PC (politically correct) New Nancy Drew. No more blue convertible - she drives a hybrid instead. No more carrying a gun into the woods as defense against wild animals, it's "illegal." No more missing a stakeout to attend a church service - she doesn't go to church. No more classic Hardy Boys, it's Undercover Brothers. Classic detective work is for the birds, as is stumbling onto mysteries. They have to assigned to these "Undercover Brothers" in the top secret program. No more librarian mother that still allows them to solve mysteries. They have to subvert her to go on their missions. I miss the old days! By old days, I mean 14 years ago. :P

This 'Veggie Monster' nonsense is...well, nonsense. Cookie Monster is 1. still named Cookie Monster, despite oft-repeated rumours and 2. has been rapping about healthy food for a good twenty years: Remember this, anyone? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpfluek-1qk t's from 1987.

I'm really disappointed no one mentioned any of the old playhouse Disney shows. My absolute favorite show as a kid was Rolie Polie Olie. Also, PB&J Otter. And Stanley with the great big book of everything and the cat dog and fish that all talked. Disney used to be amazing.

[ - ]  LilaBearGood: 1Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
All those shows you just listed are relatively 'new'. How young are you?? PB&J and Stanley were introduced when I was in highschool. :P

[ - ]  MelomaneGood: 0Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
Do not forget when they wanted to ban santa from saying "ho ho ho" and making him say "ha ha ha" because it was aperantly derogatory to women and children would be "frightened" or something like that. What do you guys think about that??

[ - ]  RaiinbowCrayonGood: 2Bad: 08 years, 8 months ago
I'm fourteen and the shows I grew up on were Caillou , The Little Lulu Show , Rugrats , Teletubbies , Magic School Bus , Bugs Bunny , Timon and Pumba and stuff like that ... I miss watching all those shows =[ When they changed Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse , I was crushed . Like this Darby person ? FAIL . And Pokemon ? Pure crap now . It went downhill after Misty left . And Ash's voice changing ? Just no . GIVE ME BACK MY CHILDHOOD . And I still believe Indigo is a color > = [ Damn them scientists .

I don't think that Dora being a teen is a big deal. I think the Rugrats being "All Growed Up" is the more realistic problem. They were babies for 10 years... Dora was 5 for about 2...

[ - ]  kg4wwnGood: 3Bad: 38 years, 7 months ago
You poor kids, I look at these threads and realize that you had such a rough time. You never got to see the truly great television programming. You are forced to think the mediocrity of the 90's was decent. You have no idea who H. R. Puffinstuff is. You don't recognize that Bill Nye is just a failed attempt to fill Mr. Wizard's shoes. Most of you don't know Dangermouse, or even Paddington Bear. Josie and the Pussycats, Jem, Schoolhouse Rock... I could go on and on, but I think the brightest of you already see my point. The BEST children's shows are always what we grew up with, and everything after is crap. In another decade or so, kids who are watching the current crop of children's shows will be nostalgic for all the tripe we are currently griping about. It is a constant cycle. NOW GET OFF MY LAWN.
