Today, my ceramics teacher was demonstrating how to wedge clay and said, "If it doesn't feel right, its probably wrong." Complete awkward silence. Then she nodded and said, "That applies for everything, if you know what I mean." MLIA.
Dearie me, it DOES look like a catfish. I can see the whiskers... I... Never noticed before...
ANM, you are quite the abstract thinker. I shall give you a pat on the back. ^.^
You don't see it? It's right side up, and the two comma looking things are the whiskers, the horizontal line is the mouth, and the two dots at the top are the eyes. It's a catfish!
Ceramics is full of innuendo. When my teacher first explained about how to open the clay, she said "go slow...then once you get the hang of it, go faster, but keep in mind the subtle things and movements that will change the way the clay moves. Try using one finger, two fingers, or your whole palm, just keep experimenting." She's old and didn't really understand why we were laughing so hard. haha.
I keep reading all these MLIA's about teachers saying messed up stuff, or making students happy by doing strange things. I now know that my 3rd graders will love me and my Nerf gun ways. :)
I was in ceramics today wedging clay, and it's funny to think about in my first day of ceramics I didn't know how to wedge clay and I was really afraid of doing it
haha i read this yesterday and thought it sounded like something my ceramics teacher would say so i asked a freshman(im a junior) i knew who was learning how to wedge if she had said that in their class and IT WAS HER! haha small world whoever you are and also BEST TEACHER EVER
