OP here. I don't remember why but in our (crappy) history books it was a little unclear as to what they really were (obviously everyone KNOWS generally what they did and things like that) It just gave us something to make a connection so it'd click better. They can be compared, whether or not that's what it's based off of, The KKK and the Death Eaters are both, essentially, clans of people, who commit crimes and kill people of a different race(s). And yeah the word "now" doesn't necessarily need to be in there..
