Gay isn't an insult.
Secondly,
There's no trace whatsoever that Edward is gay in the novels or the movie.
Thirdly,
Robert did a movie in which he played a marvelous painter, Salvador Dali- who was bisexual. Did that make him any less of a person? Bottom line is, he was still an amazing artist.
So yeah, Robert Pattinson did a gay role. I think that insinuates he's very comfortable with his sexuality and he doesn't care what people think.
